the square club

social media manager and restaurant supervisor | the square club | Apr 2021 - present

My most recent position was Social Media Manager for The Square Club, a Bristol based private members club for creatives.

I worked for six months in the hospitality sector of my organisation before curating and putting myself forward for the role of Social Media Manager, after I identified an opportunity for improvement in our digital marketing. Since I took over, the Instagram account reach improved by 193%, and my reels gained an impressive amount of traction, with one reel I created gaining over 54,000 views. I was responsible for:

  • Actively participated in weekly marketing strategy meetings to align sister brands.

  • Analysed metrics using Google Analytics and Meta Business Suite and enforced paid Instagram and Facebook ad campaigns.

  • Coordinated photoshoots with photographers and created digital content.

  • Analysed what needed promoting, generated mood-boards, organized photographers, and oversaw editing.

  • Designed engaging captions and scheduled posts using content management software.

  • Created numerous Instagram Reels and TikToks using trending sounds.

  • Interviewed suppliers to create relevant blog posts.

  • music

My interest in writing – which has evolved into a degree – is matched only by my passion for music. As an infant, my parents would drive me around the block playing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and The Eagles, hoping that the rocking motion of the car would soothe me to sleep, or at least that the music would drown out my cries. In a bid to cease my endless wailing, they were unknowingly instilling in me an unquenchable thirst for music, and eternally etching the lyrics to RHCP’s 2002 album, By The Way, in my memory (which they would no doubt come to regret when I got my first ever Walkman). My musical experience is as follows:

    • Began playing piano aged seven and played trumpet in soul and funk band, brass band, and orchestra.

    • Live gigs at bars and festivals in alternative rock band playing bass guitar

    • Live performances at bars and open mic nights as covers duo.

    • Live performance at Canterbury Cathedral televised for BBC Two

    • Live performance televised for BBC Children in Need.

    • Performed at garden party of Mervyn King (former governor of the Bank of England).

    • Achieved A in GCSE music, writing about pieces such as Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’ and Moby’s ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad’.

    • Continue to produce music today and currently working on an EP.

My musical knowledge allows me to take an analytical angle, using technical terms where appropriate while maintaining accessibility and clarity. Linked below is an article I wrote in 2021 for Her Campus Bristol about female rap icons.

  • writing

In my social media manager role, it was essential that all blog posts, website copy, and social media captions be written with impeccable grammar and skill. While studying for my BA Hons in English Literature (2.1) from the University of Bristol (2021), I developed a writing style that is eloquent yet concise, weaving clarity with creativity to generate compelling content. My stress-management column for the established University of Bristol publication, Epigram, and my contributions to the global online magazine, Her Campus, were commended by both editorial teams. This was substantiated when, in a worldwide awards ceremony across all Her Campus chapters, my ‘Switch Off Saturdays’ article was presented second place for Best Lifestyle Feature in 2020. Combined with an approach that prioritises SEO-based content writing, I was able to optimize engagement with our social media platforms and website, turning visitors into leads.

I continue to update my personal blog and YouTube channel, documenting my travels and transcribing journal extracts.

  • performance

I have performed in various concerts (including a live performance at Canterbury Cathedral which was aired on BBC Two, and another for BBC Children in Need), live gigs at bars and festivals, theatres with my ballet school, and at the garden party of Mervyn King (former governor of the Bank of England).

    - Grade A in GCSE drama

    - Merit in grades 4 and 5 LAMDA (Acting Combined)

    - Performed on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre London and Leatherhead Theatre

    - Grades one through eight ballet with merit/distinction

    - Performed at the Marlowe Theatre in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ and ‘The Nutcracker’ (with the Northern Ballet).
